I don't know what flavor of VMware you're using and I haven't personally used VMware in years (I use AHV/Nutanix, Proxmox, XCP-ng, etc etc) but here's a general overview of the process if you're looking for a starting point. Depending on your boot settings, it could just boot right into the install wizard and the rest is downhill. Then you'll need to mount the ISO file to the virtual disk (cd/dvd) drive and power on your VM. Then you'll need to go into VMware and create your Virtual Machine with whatever specs you need (remember it's pulling specs from your PC, so don't over-spec it out). So you're using a Windows 10 PC as your host, correct? And then you have VMware installed locally on the PC and you're looking to create a Virtual Machine with Ubuntu? If that's the case, there are countless tutorials and walkthroughs on how to do this.įirst thing you'll want to do is download the ISO from Ubuntu's website.
